Throughout my work, I attempt to create a visual play between irony and authenticity, weaving a tapestry of visual intrigue that beckons the viewer to explore beyond the surface. Through the lens of irony, I craft relationships that attempt to challenge artistic convention and invite the viewer to question boundaries between expectation, reality, truth and facade.
Much of my artistic exploration includes visual puns, playful twists of perception that infuse my work with the unexpected, where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, and common forms and symbols with layers of meaning ready to be unraveled.
Often my work plays with the romance and illusion of the painted surface manipulating space and forms to challenge the viewer’s perceptions, blurring the line between what is known and what is imagined. It is in this liminal or dual space that the essence of much of my art resides, beckoning the audience to explore the depths of their own imagination.
Beneath the surface of illusion lies a deeper truth—the actuality of surface and object. I confront the viewer with the materiality of my creations, inviting them to engage not only with the imagery before them but also with the tactile reality of the medium itself. In this way, my work transcends the two-dimensional confines of the canvas, becoming a tangible experience that resonates on a visceral level.
As the boundaries between reality and imagination blur, so too do the boundaries between fragmentation and cohesion. Through the use of fragmented structure and geometric forms, I invite the viewer to contemplate the nature of existence itself, oscillating between moments of harmony, discord, order and chaos.
Within this enigmatic visual equation lies a tension—a tension between belief and uncertainty, desire and impossibility, the grand and the ordinary. It is a tension that drives my work forward, propelling me to explore experience through artistic expression.
In the end, my art is a journey—an exploration of the unknown, an invitation to see the world through new eyes. Through irony and contradiction, romance and illusion, I seek to provoke a shift in perception, challenging the viewer to embrace the inherent complexity of existence and revel in the beauty of the enigmatic.
